General
Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta are located between mountains and the sea. The weather is warm the most of the year. The Puerto Vallarta city guide recommends to use only biodegradable sun lotion, as we need to take care of the environment. Prefer always to drink bottled water for your security.
To Entry
For other countries, visitors must bring effective passport, as well as the visa in case your country citizens need it. For more info on the requirements and procedures to obtain the visa, you must contact the Mexico's consular agency in your city or country. Requirements vary according to the country of origin.
Currency – ATM´s
The Mexican peso is the national currency although US dollar is widely accepted throughout the Vallartas. Major credit cards are also accepted in most establishments. The banks offer money exchange during business hours. ATM's are available everywhere for cash withdrawals.
Electricity
In Vallarta and the rest of Mexico, electricity works the same as in the US, with a voltage of 110 AC. An adaptor/converter could be helpful anyway.

Major airlines have direct flights or connections to Puerto Vallarta. Domestic flights connect with the rest of the country.
Ferry
There are water taxis to move from the main point of interest along the shore of Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta, as well as to the Marietas Islands, which are sanctuary of a great diversity of marine life: whales, dolphins, giant rays, schools of tropical fish and endemic marine birds, such as the frigatebird and the blue footed booby.
Car - Bus
Driving in the Vallartas and in Mexico is on the right. If you wish to rent a car you will need a valid driver's license from your resident country and always have it with you while driving. The bus and taxi systems are also very complete, cheap and secure.
