To Entry
Non Mexican Guests must bring their effective passport, as well as the visa in the case of your country citizens would need it. Find more information about the requirements and procedures to obtain the visa contacting the consular agency of Mexico in your city or in your country. The requirements may vary according to the country of origin.
Currency – ATM´s
US currency is widely accepted at the Mexican Mayan Riviera and the rest of the Mexican Caribbean. Normally, prices are expressed both, in Mexican pesos and US dollar and the restaurants have bilingual English-Spanish menu. Be sure to have enough cash money with you, as ATMs are located only in the main cities, like Puerto Morelos. Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Electricity
At the Mayan Riviera places, electricity works the same as in the US with a voltage of 110 AC. Try always to bring an adaptor/converter that could be helpful anyway.
Airport
The Cancun International Airport is the closest to the Riviera Maya. Major airlines have direct flights or connections to Cancun, ranked second in importance along the country. Domestic flights connect with the rest of Mexico. Small airplanes also take you to Cozumel International Airport, Chetumal International Airport, Merida International Airport and the small air track located in Chichén Itzá.

Ferry
The Riviera Maya runs from Puerto Morelos, where a federal dock is located mainly to car ferries to Cozumel. Playa del Carmen is the right place to cross to cross to Cozumel and the ferry leaves almost each hour. Other car ferry is located at Calica, to cross to Cozumel too.
Car – Bus - Taxi
Driving in the Mexican Mayan Riviera and in Mexico is on the right. To rent a car you need your valid driver's license from your resident country. Bring it all the time with you. Please drive carefully as there are speed bumps close to each town. In case you have an accident, stay on the road and "Green Angels" (a Highway Police division) will assist you. Call them to 01-800-90392 or in Cancun (998) 884-2950. The bus and the taxi systems here are very good and cover the Mexican Caribbean from one side to the other. There are bus stations in the big cities and stops at every small town. If you use a taxi, arrange prices first to avoid inconveniences.
