US currency is widely accepted at the Mexican Mayan Riviera and the rest of the Mexican Caribbean. Normally, prices are expressed both, in Mexican pesos and US dollar and the restaurants have bilingual English-Spanish menu. Be sure to have enough cash money with you, as ATMs are located only in the main cities, like Puerto Morelos. Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
At the Mayan Riviera places, electricity works the same as in the US with a voltage of 110 AC. Try always to bring an adaptor/converter that could be helpful anyway.
The Cancun International Airport is the closest to the Riviera Maya. Major airlines have direct flights or connections to Cancun, ranked second in importance along the country. Domestic flights connect with the rest of Mexico. Small airplanes also take you to Cozumel International Airport, Chetumal International Airport, Merida International Airport and the small air track located in Chichén Itzá.
