The Pre-Colombian Mayan city of Tulum served as a major port for Coba. It was an important trade hub due to its accessibility through land and sea. It was one of the last cities to be inhabited and build by the Mayas. The city also managed to survive about 70 years after the Spanish arrived to Mexico. Today, it is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites, making it an ideal Riviera Maya attraction.
Protected on one side by cliffs and sea and on the other by a massive wall, the Mayan archeological site of Tulum is one of the most well-known fortified Mayan cities. The ruins were built on 12-meter tall cliffs, along the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. The word Tulum (Tulúm) is the Mayan word for fence, wall or trench. After visiting this amazing city through a guided 1-hour tour, our staff will take you to one of the most stunning and beautiful beaches in Tulum. This charming tour lasts about half a day and invites you to discover two of the Riviera Maya’s treasures: Mayan ruins and beach.
